Community events
The week between the Sportive and Retro Weekend is all about sharing Tom Simpson’s incredible story with the local community — a chance to celebrate local pride, connect over cycling, and honour one of Harworth’s finest.
Throughout the week, author and Tom's nephew Chris Sidwells will also be visiting local schools to deliver assemblies on Tom’s life and legacy. If your school is near(ish!) to Harworth and would like to be involved, we’d love to hear from you.

Tuesday 9th Sept - Doors open 6.45pm, Start 7.30pm
The Life of Tom Simpson
Join us at Harworth & Bircotes Town Hall for a free evening talk with Chris Sidwells on the life of Tom Simpson.
A chance to hear the stories, ask questions, and reflect on the journey of a local lad who became Britain’s first world road race champion and a true cycling pioneer.
Tickets are free but limited — first come, first served.
Chris, as well as being Tom's nephew, is a world renowned author, historian and cycling journalist - so who better to hear the story from?
If your plans change, please let us know so someone else can take your place.

Thursday 11th Sept - 7pm
Museum Re-opening
The Tom Simpson Museum will reopen with a refreshed display, new artefacts, and a very special guest — Tom’s daughter, Joanne.
Come along to explore the collection and chat with people who knew Tom best. It’s a brilliant opportunity to share memories, swap stories, and soak in cycling history.
