A well researched book of Legends

Saturday 9th September - I watched part of the Tewkersbury to Gloucester Quays from round the corner from my house, the September 10th I read Chris Sidwells Great British Cycling Legends- what a treat, well researched and as the author states there is more to cycling than wearing the yellow jersey in te Tour De France. This book goes back to the 1860s, we have come along way from penny farthings. There are legends here that even I as an avid cycling viewer did not know about the firat black cycling champion in the 70s- Maurice Burton or Eileen Sheridan who was one of the first female professional cyclists and a major record-breaker into the 1950s. (we still have a bit to go to have woman cyclists who are as well known as the guys say from Ineos or Movistar. The author explores the cyclists and their personalities and just what makes them the great cyclists they are.Really recommend this book what a great read.
